Among Fire and Wings – Immersive Fantasy Ball
ISARPOST / MUNICH
For southern Germany’s, or better said Munich’s first fantasy ball “Among Fire and Wings”, planned and executed by Lilia Jäger – Special Events, WE ARE VIDEO created a fully immersive projection for the great hall at the event location Isarpost in Munich.
Accordingly to the theme of the evening which was inspired by Rebecca Yarros‘ international romantic fantasy bestseller series Fourth Wing – we transformed the large hall of the Isarpost into a fantastical world: the Kingdom of Navarre. Therefore, WE ARE VIDEO designed a room-filling projection across the walls and ceiling, creating a visual environment that immersed guests in the atmosphere of the book’s world.
And while people fell in Love and danced on the dance floor below, fire-breathing dragons flew over the walls of a fictional fortress and across the sky, lightning flashed through the night, and the projections dynamically adapted to the music, lighting and movement in the room. The visual design supported the central concept of the evening: to create a place where fantasy, community and staging merge.
Around 200 guests, many of them elaborately dressed as characters from fantasy worlds – elves, dragon riders or magical creatures – experienced an event in which reality and fiction deliberately merged. The projection became the central element of the interior design, allowing the historic architecture of the Isarpost to become part of the world being narrated.
And so the Fantasy Ball exemplifies how immersive video art can transform spaces: not only as a visual highlight, but as a narrative medium that creates atmosphere, amplifies emotions and actively immerses an audience in a story.
With this project, WE ARE VIDEO developed a tailor-made immersive visual world that held the evening together visually and transported visitors from everyday life into another reality for a few hours.
