The Long Night of Munich Museums at the European Patent Office in Munich has been an integral part of WE ARE VIDEO’s light art projects since 2021. Every year, the EPO is transformed into an impressive interplay of architecture, art and technology. Precise lighting design showcases the striking glass façade of the building along the River Isar, turning it into a shining symbol of creativity and innovation.

The focus is on the fusion of art in public spaces and digital staging. Works from the European Patent Office’s art collection – from sculptures to kinetic installations – are brought to life through light and movement. The result is an immersive experience that invites visitors to perceive their familiar surroundings from a completely new perspective.

WE ARE VIDEO designs the light installations individually for the architecture and atmosphere of the Long Night. Technical precision, artistic ideas and emotional impact merge to create a unique overall experience. Since the start of the collaboration with the European Patent Office in 2021, the project has been continuously developed – with ever-changing concepts, motifs and lighting moods that immerse Munich at night in a fascinating interplay of colour and space.

The project will continue during Munich’s Long Night of Museums in 2025, when the European Patent Office will once again open its doors to the general public, who will be able to experience the connection between innovation, art and light up close. WE ARE VIDEO shows how modern light art and technology can transform urban spaces into vibrant stages.
