eurward Archiv

HAUS DER KUNST / München

The heart of the exhibition is a 9 x 9 m video projection with the help of three projectors, based on the image archive of the euward (European Art Award), which annually honors the visual work of artists* with cognitive disabilities. The images were combined with quotes by the artists, which were recorded by members of the ensemble of Freie Bühne München, the first inclusive theater in Bavaria.
With euward, Haus der Kunst continues the series “Archives in Residence”, which traces the relationship between archives, history formation and its representation and foregrounds autonomous archives as alternative sites of knowledge production. The euward archive is an important source for as yet untold art history(s). In this way, the exhibition aims to put cultural self-understanding to the test and encourage reflection on notions of inclusive culture and diverse society.
