Giardino misterioso – Long Night of Munich Museums

ST. ANDREAS CHURCH / MUNICH

As part of the 25th Long Night of Munich Museums 2024, which took place on October 19, WE ARE VIDEO presented the impressive live light installation “Giardino Misterioso.”

In collaboration with the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, the interior of St. Andreas Church on Zenettistraße was transformed into a visual symbol of retreat, peace, and self-discovery. Situated in a multicultural neighborhood, the church became a mysterious garden that facilitated both spiritual and interpersonal encounters.

Visitors had the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in a world full of secrets and wonders. The skillful combination of mystical sounds and atmospheric lighting effects created a continuous interplay between light and space. This resulted in a unique atmosphere of contemplation and inspiration, opening new perspectives.

The installation was accompanied by the group Super Plastik (Valentin Preißler: saxophones, keys, effects; Philipp Staudt: trumpet, effects; Julius Hamberger: modular synthesizer, drum machine), whose improvised sounds captivated the audience. A distinctive blend of golden wind instruments, modular synthesizers, and minimalist beats formed an unmistakable sound tapestry that beautifully complemented the visual installation.

In total, over 1,100 visitors flocked to St. Andrew’s Church to experience this extraordinary live performance of light and sound. The interplay of light, sound, and space ensured that “Giardino Misterioso” became an unforgettable experience that resonated well beyond the event itself.
