SNJÓENGILL – Experience the Magic of Winter Digitally
With SNJÓENGILL, Gasteig HP8 transforms into an interactive winter landscape. Inspired by the Icelandic language – SNJÓENGILL means snow angel – the installation brings the magic of winter to life digitally through touch, movement, or simply passing by.
From December 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the installation in Hall E of the Gasteig HP8 offers an immersive experience for everyone who loves the magic of snow but prefers to avoid the cold.
Interactive Art in Transformation
SNJÓENGILL is the successor to the widely acclaimed Florescent installation, which was presented at Gasteig HP8 during and in honor of the Flower Power Festival.
Florescent was a generative and interactive video art installation that recreated the complexity of flowers. Using state-of-the-art AI technology, paintings, colors, shapes, and structures of flowers were analyzed and translated into a dynamic particle world that visitors could influence. The result was a mesmerizing, meditative spectacle that responded to audience movement – much like a breeze passing through grass.
Experience Your Own Winter Illusion
With SNJÓENGILL, we continue this interactive approach by creating a digital winter space that reacts to touch and movement. Whether you love snow or simply want to immerse yourself in a poetic, wintery world – the installation invites you to marvel, linger, and participate.
This installation is part of our OPTICAL FLOW – Creations series.
