TRANSATLANTIC INNOVATION WEEK 2022

In collaboration with Betty Mü, light and video installations were also created for TIW 2022 to set a visible sign for the action week in public space. The Transatlantic Innovation Week reflects the German-American cooperation in business, research, politics and science for green innovations and a sustainable future. These themes were addressed in the three individual installations around the Prinz-Carl-Palais, between the U.S. Consulate and the Bavarian State Chancellery. A mapping at the Prinz-Carl-Palais playfully staged the facade and thematized the interplay of nature and technology in projections. Over a distance of more than 1 km, a green laser beam connected the Palais with the Friedensengel – across Prinzregentenstrasse and the Isar river: as a symbolic visual bridge between the two countries. For the third installation, a semicircular water wall was created in the Köglmühlbach near the Prinz-Carl-Palais fountain as a moving, three-dimensional screen. Through a rear projection, natural structures literally flowed into artificial ones. Quotes from, among others, Minister President Markus Söder, Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter and US Ambassador Amy Gutmann were also incorporated.

The project was jointly commissioned by the Consulate General of the United States of America, the Bavarian State Chancellery and the City of Munich.

The light action started on the occasion of the annual Earth Day on Friday, 22.04.2022 and ran until Sunday, 01.05.2022 – daily from 20:30 to 23 o’clock.
